Srinagar, May 01 (KNO): The Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Thursday presided over a key meeting of senior party leaders and district presidents in Srinagar, where the party unanimously adopted a resolution lauding Rahul Gandhi’s steadfast advocacy for a nationwide caste census. As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the resolution adopted by the JKPCC stated, “Recognising the Historic Step Towards Social Justice, equitable development and participation in the country’s power structure. This house places on record its profound appreciation for the Hon’ble Leader of Opposition, Shri Rahul Gandhi ji, for his relentless and courageous advocacy for the nationwide caste census. His sustained efforts have culminated in a historic Cabinet decision that marks a significant step towards achieving social justice and equitable development. We firmly believe that the caste census is not merely a data-gathering exercise but a vital instrument for policy-making that ensures the voices of the historically marginalised and under-represented communities are heard and empowered. The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee receives the news with pleasure amid mourning on the Pahalgam episode and reaffirms its full support for this initiative and resolves to carry forward the message of justice, equity, and inclusion across all regions of Jammu & Kashmir. Under the visionary leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi ji and the Indian National Congress, we commit ourselves to working tirelessly towards building an India where every citizen is treated with dignity and fairness.” The statement read that the resolution was adopted unanimously—(KNO)
